About the Creator

Bigfry (Dustin) is a leading voice in the FPS/TPS streaming and YouTube space. Known for his sharp takes on tactical shooters and his strong community following, he’s built a reputation for authenticity, analysis, and an eye for emerging titles. With a growing presence across Twitch, YouTube, TikTok and X, Bigfry needed a cohesive, modern streaming experience that matched his professionalism and growing reach.

The Challenge

When Dustin first approached us, the discussion centered on a possible full rebrand. However, after some reflection, we realized that might not be the best approach.

“Been thinking over the weekend. Let’s move away from the rebranding and focus on the Streaming Overlay Package… Lets focus on stream overhaul and move forward with that!” – Bigfry

The most immediate impact would come from overhauling his streaming overlays, alerts, and widgets — a transformation his community would see and be able to engage with every day.

The challenge:

  • Develop a stream package that felt uniquely his without straying too far from existing elements or become overbearing.
  • Blend clean design aesthetics with tactical, tech-inspired elements.
  • Ensure flexibility for multi-streaming (Twitch, YouTube, and upcoming vertical formats).
  • Build tools that integrated seamlessly into his workflow, without slowing him down.

The Ideas and Solution

We began with exploratory calls to align on style, inspiration, and functional needs. Dustin gravitated toward topographic linework, tactical scan-style transitions, and bold, responsive alerts that matched his existing color palette (orange/yellow accents) and brand assets that he provided as guidance.

From there, we crafted a streaming overlay package that combined visual design with technical development. The process started with illustration and layout design, where we built the core look of each scene and a concept for an interactive webcam frame. Once the static designs were approved, we moved into animation, adding motion to transitions, alerts, and the insane webcam frame to to make it feel alive without being overwhelming.

Finally, we brought everything into the live environment through custom development, coding the widgets and alerts using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. This ensured full compatibility with StreamElements while keeping the package flexible enough to adapt for Streamlabs. Each element was tested inside OBS to confirm smooth performance, scalability, and legibility across different stream formats, laying the foundation for a setup that works seamlessly for Twitch, YouTube, and beyond.

We created:

  • Starting, BRB, and Ending Screens
Clean layouts with subtle topo textures, space for socials, and room for sponsor callouts — keeping things professional without clutter.
  • Updated Fry Mascot
No design change to this hilarious mascot, but we did add some subtle animations to bring it to life.
  • Transitions
A fast, matte-layer “scan” transition that briefly reveals both scenes. After feedback, we stripped unnecessary banners to keep things sharp and unobtrusive.
  • All in One Webcam Frame with Alerts, Sponsor Roll & Goals
Highly interactive, with color-coded frames that change depending on the alert type. We designed alert text scaling for maximum legibility (feedback-driven). Goals were integrated directly into the frame, with special animations when milestones were hit. Also, we included a scheduled carousel for rotating sponsor logos, with built-in space for CTAs like discount codes and merch promotion.
  • Widgets & Platform Flexibility
While Dustin initially used Streamlabs, we recommended StreamElements for added flexibility in this use case — particularly for goals that could change from subs to donations on the fly. Our developer built the alerts/widgets/goal frame in SE, with OBS Studio as the testing and performance base.

The Process

This project was highly collaborative. Dustin was involved at every milestone:

  • Style exploration (comparing influences like Disguised Toast’s webcam design, and identifying what resonated).
  • Prototype reviews (video demos to visualize screens, transitions, and overlay clutter tolerance).
  • Iterative feedback (e.g., scaling up event text, removing unused transition banners, refining social integrations).

Despite a timezone clash, we maintained momentum through async check-ins, quick calls, and iterative previews.

The Results

The final package delivered:

  • A sleek, professional overlay system with tactical topo styling.
  • Responsive alerts and goals that both engage the community and stay legible.
  • Sponsor-ready widgets that can scale with future partnerships.
  • A flexible setup that prepares Dustin for multistreaming across Twitch, YouTube, and vertical platforms like TikTok.
  • Project was delivered under the estimated budget.

Feedback from Dustin was overwhelmingly positive:

“Starting Screen is CLEEEEEEEEAN!”

“The Goal Bar is fucking AWESOME!”

“[Sponsor Roll] is also clean as hell man. I thought I had notes/changes, but watching it back again is CLEAN”

“Been using the overlay for about a week now! LOVE IT!” – Bigfry

Takeaways

This project demonstrates the power of tailored, creator-first design:

  • Stream overhauls can provide immediate community impact, even before a full rebrand.
  • Clean visuals + functional widgets = better viewer experience and stronger monetization opportunities.
  • Collaboration and iteration with the creator ensure the final product feels authentic, not templated.
