How to Add Emotes to Twitch

To add emotes to your Twitch channel, head to your dashboard. On the left-hand sidebar, click Viewer Rewards, then Emotes. Subscriber Emotes is the first section listed on the Emotes page.

Add emotes to Twitch

Under the Subscriber Emotes section is a list of your current emotes grouped by tier, as well as your current emote prefix and the progress you’ve made towards unlocking your next emote. Partners also have access to Animated Emotes as a Tier 1 subscriber benefit.

To upload an emote, click the + button under the desired tier. Once uploaded, your emote will be added to the slot and saved to your Library so that it can be used later should you decide to remove it from the slot in the future. You can also upload directly into your Library instead of a specific slot by clicking on Upload New. Emotes uploaded directly to your Library will not be active until you assign them to an open slot.

Upload new Twitch emote

Unless you’re specialized enough to resize your emotes, we recommend utilizing Twitch’s “Auto Resize Mode”. Auto-resize mode is an easy, streamlined way to upload your emotes. To upload your emote, you’ll need a single square image file between 112x112px and 4096x4096px that is under 1MB in size. This file will then be automatically converted into our other required sizes.

Within the Emote Code field, choose a name for your emote (e.g: Love). Your emote’s full code will be your emote prefix combined with your emote code (e.g: prefix + Love = prefixLove).

Once you’ve uploaded your files and selected your code, click Upload Emote. Your emote will be saved to your Library. If you uploaded directly into a slot, it will be assigned to that slot by default.
